Historic Tasmanian Wool operation Winton Flock No.1, won the prestigious Vitale Barberis Conico (VBC) Wool Excellence Award 2023.

Vitale Barberis Conico CEO Alessandro Barberis Conico, Raw Procurement Manager Davide Fontenito and CFO Anselmo Palumbo presented John Taylor Jnr and Vera Taylor with the award at the annual dinner in Newcastle in November 2023. The annual award recognises and celebrates VBC's Wool Excellence Club Members and thier dedication to Saxon wool production, highlighting thier commitment to superior quality, animal welfare, sustainability and innovation.

To be eligible for the award growers must be members of the VBC Wool Excellence Club, who are especially selected by VBC using strict criteria and must demonstrate sustainable wool production and especially superfine, Saxon merino wool, highly regarded by VBC for high-end fabric production.

VBC said with the legacy standing 7 generations, the Taylor family has consistently demonstrated a deep understanding of the Saxon wool production and a genuine passion for producing some of the finest wool in the world. Mr. Fonteneto said VBC was particularly impressed by Winton Estate's long history like VBC and their holistic approach to wool production 'their dedication to both exquisite quality and sustainability sets a remarkable standard for the industry. It is a privilege to recognise and celebrate their achievements.'
